Performance content

Hokusai left many works depicting birds. This exhibition introduces a wide range of birds drawn by Hokusai Ichimon, including various types of birds that people saw in the Edo period, birds drawn as designs, birds that give depth and flavor to the screen, and are depicted as symbols of scenes, and convey their charm.

There are still many bird lovers, but Hokusai also produced many works depicting birds, and his excellent depictions helped establish the genre of flower and bird painting in Nishiki-e.
In this exhibition, you will see various birds and bird designs painted by Hokusai Ichimon, and you will feel the beauty and splendor of their painting skills up close to you as if you were interacting with many birds at the bird park. In addition, focusing on the role of birds as stage sets, we will read the seasons, places, and thoughts of people expressed by birds, and introduce the episode of "Illustration of Autumn Leaves on the Tatsuda River," in which Hokusai used real birds to direct his work. Ride the wings of birds painted by
Hokusai and enjoy the world of people and birds of that time.
