Organizations Overview

The Chiba Symphony Orchestra is the only professional orchestra in Chiba Prefecture, and as a continuation of the 31 years of activities of its predecessor, the New Philharmonic Orchestra Chiba, the Chiba Symphony Orchestra was renamed the Chiba Symphony Orchestra in October 2016, and is now celebrating its 36th year.
We perform in about 20 concerts every year, including regular concerts, the Prefectural Arts Theater and concerts in various places, and strive to spread and improve the musical culture of Chiba Prefecture. In addition, for the children who will lead the next generation, we continue to convey the wonders of music by holding "Music Appreciation Classes for Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High Schools" at about 50 schools every year, a project co-sponsored by Chiba Prefecture and municipal boards of education, and by appearing in more than 150 concerts a year, including visits to kindergartens and special needs schools and various chamber music.
In April 2016, we invited Kazufumi Yamashita as our music director and launched a new challenge with the "Orchestra of Oragamachi". The fresh and enthusiastic performances have gained the support of many residents of Chiba Prefecture, and we are steadily building our position as an orchestra that is familiar and loved by the people of Chiba Prefecture.
