KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre
KAAT DANCE SERIES 2021
「The Silk Drum 綾の鼓」
This time, we will deliver a "dance theater" created in France by legendary actor Yoshi Hieda, who has been working with internationally active choreographers and dancers Ikuyo Ito and Peter Brook. This work was made a lot of headlines at the Avignon Art Week (UNE SEMAINE D' ART EN AVIGNON) held in France in October 2020.
story depicts a tragedy in which an old man cleaning the stage of a theater falls in love with a dancer rehearsing on stage, but the thought is not fulfilled. The texts of Jean-Claude Carri?re, inspired by the noh song "Aya-tsume" and the "Aya no Kou" adaptation by Yukio Mishima, begin to speak through the bodies of two talented Japanese artists, mixing with the tone of Makoto Yabuki's percussion instruments to tell the audience the story of love that is not possible. Please look forward to ito and Hieda's version of "Aya no Tsuzumi".
