Since its inception, in addition to the current Gagaku classics, he has been actively engaged in the restoration of discontinued songs, the restoration of Shosoin musical instruments, and the performance of contemporary works, and has developed a wide range of activities both in Japan and overseas. In particular, he focuses on the premieres of works commissioned by contemporary composers and new works in the classical Gagaku style, and often presents them at independent concerts held twice a year. In addition, Toru Takemitsu's "Akiba Uta Ichigu" has a reputation, and in May 2001, his independent concert at Suntory Hall, where he played the song, was awarded the Nakajima Kenzo Music Award Special Award in February 2002, and the cd "Akiba Utsuko" (Sony Classical), which was recorded at the same time, received the Excellence Award in the Record Category of the 2002 Art Festival. Received the 16th (2016) Suntory Foundation's Keizo Saji Award for the "13th Gagaku Concert - Toru Takemitsu Akiiwa Uta No Gaku". In 2018, the performance of "Gagaku Korakusha × Moriyama Kaiji" in Japonisme, Paris, and "GAGAKU&BUGAKU", a performance by the New York Japan Society, was very popular in 2019. In addition, we plan friendly concerts with commentary and strive to understand and disseminate Gagaku. In recent years, he has focused on projects for children and produced gagaku concerts, CDs and DVDs for children through his own projects. In addition to the Agency for Cultural Affairs' "Project for The Synthesis of Children's Education through Culture and the Arts" and act "Traditional Culture and Performing Arts Experience For Children", there are also many workshops and lecture concerts for elementary, junior high and high school students.
