Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdi: Cello Sonata No. 2 Ninaga The Young Artists Project is a new program organized by the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdi Foundation For the purpose of introducing promising young musicians and commissioning new works to composers. The first event was organized by Daiki Michibata (conductor), the first scholarship student of the Fund.
Mendelssohn was involved in the establishment of a music school in Leipzig and actively trained young musicians, including introducing new musicians. This spirit has also been passed down through the Foundation, which has produced three young conductors as scholarship students and provided opportunities to receive the training of the late Kurt Mazua.
Both Mr. Yamazawa of the cello and Mr. Hirakawa of the composer are extremely talented people who are already widely recognized in the stage due to their achievements in famous competitions and wide-ranging activities. They were classmates in college, and it is expected that they will create a more intimate and inspired interaction between the performer and the composer.
