Organizations Overview

The history of the Umewawa Manzaburo family, the predecessor of the Umewawa Kennokai, goes back to about 600 years. There are various theories about the origin, but the left minister Tachibana's brother is the father. The first-day Manzaburo, the eldest son of The 53st, handed over his family to his younger brother Rokuro and started the current Manzaburo family. The Kennokai was established in January 1948, and the number of performances is 155 times until the admisses due to the intensification of the war in 1944. It resumed on the Matsudaira family stage in Somei in 1946, and has continued to perform every month since then. It was converted into a foundation in October 1974 and be certified by the Cabinet Office in April 2012.
