Kazuhito Yamashita

Born in Nagasaki City in 1961, he studied guitar from the age of eight to his father, Toru Yamashita. He also studied under composer Kojiro Ofune.
After winning the National Competition (now the Tokyo International Guitar Competition) at the age of 15, he became the youngest player ever to compete in the world's three major guitar competitions in Ramirez, Alessandria International and Paris International at the age of 16.
LP and CD have released 84 albums so far. His own arrangement, published in 1980, received a great response. Since then, he has arranged a series of orchestral pieces, including "Firebird", "Sheerazat", "From the New World", and arranged "J.S. Bach: Sonata for Solo Violin & Partita, Cello, Flute, Lute Suite BWV995-1013 (5CDs)"
all. On the other hand, the original repertoire of guitars, such as "F. Sol: Complete Guitar Pieces (16CDs)", "H. Villa-Lobos: 12 exercises and 5 Etudos", "M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco: 24 Capriccios by Goya", etc.
Solo recitals at Vienna Muziegfeline Grand Hall, New York Lincoln Center, and other parts of the world. He is invited to large-scale international guitar festivals with genres held around the world as a male classical player almost every year. He has also performed with world-class conductors and orchestras such as L. Slatkin and R. Frebeck de Burgos. He has also performed with jazz guitarist Larry Colliel, flute J. Galway, contrabass gary Kerr and Tokyo Quartet. Since 2004, he has formed "Yamashita Kazuhito Family Quartet Quintet" with his children, and has also formed guitar duos with his eldest daughter (Red Bow) and second daughter (Aiyo) to perform around the world.
He is also eager to premiere new works by composers from Japan and abroad, especially Asian composers, and has written more than 60 works written for Kazuhito Yamashita. He won the Grand Prize at the 1999 Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival for his CD "Japanese Guitar Songs in the Early Days".
